What is spray tanning and how does it work?

Spray tanning involves applying an active ingredient, dihydroxyactone or DHA to your skin using a specialist low pressure spray machine.

DHA is colourless sugar. It interacts with the proteins and amino acids in the outer layer of your skin to produce a golden brown colour. You will be sprayed with a lightly coloured solution of DHA, but the actual tan takes approximately 8 hours to develop.

The lightly coloured solution will then wash off when showered, don't worry, it isn't your tan washing down the plug hole just our guide colour.
